Evasive Motorsports, Inc. Settles For $295,000
In May 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Evasive Motorsports, Inc. (Evasive), with its principal location in Cerritos, California, for the company’s violation of California Vehicle Code section 27156 (Vehicle Code § 27156), and California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2220 et seq. (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, § 2220 et seq.).
An investigation conducted by CARB staff showed that Evasive sold automotive aftermarket performance parts without legal exemptions to California’s anti-tampering laws. Such parts replace or modify vehicle critical original equipment manufacturer (OEM) emissions control system components and OEM specified engine-operating conditions, and thus must be evaluated by CARB to demonstrate the vehicle’s continued emissions compliance to qualify for legal exemption.
To settle the case, Evasive agreed to the penalty of $250 per violation for a total of $295,000. The total penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Evasive fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter, and has agreed to not install, sell, offer for sale, or advertise in California, any non-exempted aftermarket parts.
