Revlon Consumer Products Corporation Settles For $6,000

In May 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Revlon Consumer Products Corporation (Revlon), with its principal location in New York, New York for the company’s violation of CARB’s Regulation for Reducing Emissions from Consumer Products (Consumer Products Regulation), under California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94500 et seq.

An investigation conducted by CARB staff showed that Revlon imported a product that failed to meet the volatile organic compound (VOC) limit requirements for a personal fragrance (less than 20% fragrance) product. The same product failed to display the date of manufacturing. CARB documented both violations as they related to the Consumer Products Regulation.

To settle the case, Revlon agreed to the penalty of $6,000 and ceased sales of the noncompliant product in violation. Revlon fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. The penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
