The California Bioresources Economy Summit was held on January 29 & 30, 2019 at the David Brower Center in Berkeley, California, co-hosted by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the University of California, Berkeley, and the California Air Resources Board.
The two-day summit included seven expert panels, featuring policymakers, bioresource experts, technology innovators, community groups, and researchers to explore how the State’s bioresources from the forest, agricultural, and urban sectors can help the State adapt to and mitigate climate change, improve air quality, create jobs, and achieve other significant co-benefits. The Summit examined what is needed for an integrated policy framework that enables market forces to take California’s bioeconomy to the next generation through substantive discussions of the overall knowledge base and information gaps, resource streams, emerging technology options, lessons learned from global experiences, and successful approaches to addressing facility siting, technical, supply chain, financing, and policy barriers. The Summit discussed actionable recommendations to support California’s successful circular economy future.
