Nova Truck Repair Settles For $27,000
In July of 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Nova Truck Repair (Nova), with its principal location in Oakland, California, in the amount of $27,000. The penalties were suspended on the condition Nova complies with the terms of the Settlement Agreement.
CARB staff conducted an investigation revealing that Nova failed to meet the in-use compliance requirements in several ways: By installing Verified Diesel Emission Control Systems (VDECS) without being an authorized installer (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, § 2706(q)); by installing VDECS without meeting the terms and conditions of the strategy’s Executive Order (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13 § 2706(u)(1)); for not being an authorized installer for the VDECS installed (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13 § 2711(a)); by installing VDECS on the incorrect engine (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13 § 2711(b)); and by selling and installing VDECS which did not meet all the conditions of the respective Executive Order.
Nova agreed to the terms of the settlement, including the suspended penalty of $27,000, and the requirement that Nova will not install VDECS and will comply with the requirements set forth in the Verification Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit.13, § 2700 et seq.). Nova cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter.
