Welcome to CARB’s free tester training course and exam.

The purpose of this training course and exam is to prepare you to become a credentialed tester authorized to perform emissions compliance testing within the Clean Truck Check program.

You must complete this training course and score a minimum of 80 percent on the accompanying exam to obtain your credential.

For OBD test submission, the email address used to log into your CTC-VIS tester account to take the credentialed tester exam must match your OBD test device login exactly.

Any discrepancies in email addresses will cause an invalid tester credential error, resulting in a non-passing test submission in CTC-VIS.

Upon successful completion of the exam, you will be issued a Credentialed Tester Certificate, which will be available for download in your CTC-VIS tester account under My Details section.

Your tester credential will be valid for two (2) years from the date you passed the exam. To renew your credentials, retake the training course and pass the exam.

Expired tester credentials will result in the inability to submit test results.
