Step 2- Taking the Exam

All State classifications (positions) require you to take and pass an exam before you can apply. You must score high enough on the exam to be “reachable,” meaning your score falls within the top three highest ranks.

An exam generally consists of an assessment where you rate your knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities in specific related actions. When you visit an exam posting, please ensure you read through all the information including the exam bulletin. It is very important that your review all the instructions as some exam processes differ from others. Persons who meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the Classification Description will be eligible to take that exam.
