Acheon Akti Navigation Company, Ltd. Settles For $13,000
In April 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Acheon Akti Navigation Company, Ltd. (AAN), with its principal location in Limassol, Cyprus, in the amount of $13,000 for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
CARB staff conducted an investigation revealing that the AAN vessel Baltic Jasmine failed to operate on compliant fuel upon entry into Regulated California Waters in 2022. CARB alleged two days of violation for a penalty of $6,500 per day. AAN took prompt action after being notified of these violations and, under CARB’s supervision, began operating in compliance.
To settle the case, AAN agreed to the $13,000 penalty for the violations and to comply with CARB regulations. The $13,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
