National Chemical Company Case Settles for $3,000
National Chemical Company (Longwood, Florida) sold, supplied, and/or offered for sale a non-compliant General Purpose Cleaner in California. Enforcement staff purchased a sample of Citrus Clean that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the 0.5 percent limit for the General Purpose Cleaner: Non-aerosol category specified in title 17 California Code of Regulations section 94509(a). The violation resulted in 195 pounds of excess VOC emissions, based upon the formulation and the sales information provided by National Chemical Company. National Chemical Company made modifications to the product to come into compliance.
