Marquez Brothers International, Inc. Case Settles for $24,000
On April 14, 2011, Marquez Brothers International, Incorporated (MBI) agreed to pay $24,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $18,000.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $6,000.00 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Community Colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that MBI failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) rule. To settle the case, MBI agreed to the $24,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and TRU rule.
