Lucas Oil Products, Inc. Case Settles for $48,400.00
On May 28, 2013, a Consumer Products case was settled with Lucas Oil Products, Inc., for selling and/or supplying four separate products that were non-compliant with California VOC limits. Those products and VOC limits for those product categories included an Automotive Wax/Polish/Sealant/Glaze which exceeded the 15% VOC limit; a multi-purpose lubricant that exceeded the 50% VOC limit; a metal polish or cleanser that exceeded the 30% VOC limit; and a rubber/vinyl protectant that exceeded the 3% VOC limit. These limits are set as percent by weight under the Consumer Products Regulation title 17, California Code of Regulations (CCR), section 94509(a). All four products were sold under the Lucas brand name, and together contributed an estimated 2.77 tons of excess VOC emissions. Lucas Oil Products paid $48,400 to settle the case.
