Lobo Trucking Case Settles for $12,600
Lobo Trucking will pay $12,600.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $9,450.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,150.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in December, 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Lobo Trucking failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards, failed to provide evidence that their vehicle had an ECL attached to the engine of the heavy-duty diesel vehicle in their fleet in violation of HSC § 44011.6 and 13 CCR § 2183, et seq. and failed to meet the requirements of the Engine Model Year Compliance Schedule for lighter vehicles, as required by the TB regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), Emission Control Label (ECL) Program and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, Lobo Trucking agreed to the $12,600.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, ECL, TB, and other ARB programs.
