Liberty Transport LLC Settles for $60,000
In January 2019, a settlement was reached with Liberty Transport LLC. Liberty Transport LLC agreed to pay $60,000 in penalties for violating air quality regulations, all of which will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality. An investigation by the California Air Resources Board showed that Liberty Transport LLC hired 28 trucks in 2016 without verifying compliance as required by the Truck and Bus (TB) regulation. Liberty Transport LLC also failed to bring three of their heavy-duty trucks into compliance with applicable in-use performance standards as required by the TB regulation. To settle the case, Liberty Transport LLC agreed to the $60,000 penalty and will comply with the TB regulation by instituting procedures to ensure only TB compliant trucks are dispatched or operated in California.
