Lawson Products Settlement
Lawson Products Case Settles for $126,500
In December 2009, Lawson Products self-disclosed 13 products sold in California that were in violation of VOC limits contained in ARB’s Consumer Product Regulations. Subsequent investigation, and several additional disclosures by the company over the next two years, revealed 53 additional products in violation including eight products containing prohibited Toxic Air Contaminants. The sale of the products resulted in 2.11 tons of excess VOC emissions and 5.59 tons of Toxic Air Contaminant emissions. Lawson Products has since stopped selling the non-compliant products and reformulated the remainder of their product line. The case was settled on June 14, 2012 for $126,500 after adjusting for the self-disclosure.
