Krone NA, Inc. Case Settles for $20,000
In November 2015, the Air Resources Board (ARB) reached a settlement with Krone NA, Inc. (Krone NA) that included $20,000in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $15,000 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $5,000 to the School Bus and Diesel Emission Reduction Supplemental Environmental Project which primarily assists school districts with funding to ensure protection of children’s health while continuing home-to-school transportation, assists compliance with the In-Use Truck and Bus Regulation, and results in emission reduction benefits.
Krone NA made a voluntary self-disclosure to ARB concerning off-road compression-ignition engines sold in California in years 2010 and 2011. Krone NA disclosed the unintentional importation and sale of non-certified off-road compression-ignition engines in California, due to misinterpretation of the regulations and the certification status of the engines. Krone NA took immediate corrective action, including shipment and sales holds to California, and implemented additional procedures to prevent future non-compliance. Krone NA has agreed not to manufacture for sale, sell, offer for sale, introduce or deliver for introduction into commerce, or import into California any off-road compression-ignition engines in violation of the California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2420 et seq.
