JSC “Ship’s Service Agency” Settles For $10,500
JSC “Ship’s Service Agency,” an ocean-going vessel management company based in Lithuania, paid $10,500 in penalties to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for violating the Ocean-Going Vessels Fuels Regulation. The violations were discovered during a routine inspection by CARB staff. This settlement was reached in July 2021.
An investigation by CARB showed that the JSC “Ship’s Service Agency” vessel, Schweiz Stream, failed to operate on compliant fuel upon entry into Regulated California Waters in 2021. CARB alleged one day and four hours of violation for a penalty of $7,500 per day and $750 per hour, allowing for a 25 percent reduction for first time violation and cooperation. JSC “Ship’s Service Agency” took prompt action after being notified of these violations and, under CARB’s supervision, began operating in a compliant fashion. To settle the case, JSC “Ship’s Service Agency” agreed to the $10,500 penalty for the violations and to comply with CARB regulations.
