Imperial Valley Foods, Inc. Case Settles for $36,000
Imperial Valley Foods, Inc. will pay $36,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $27,000.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $9,000.00 will go to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District for the School Bus Diesel Emission Reduction SEP. This settlement was reached in July, 2016.
An investigation conducted by the Air Resources Board (ARB) determined that Imperial Valley Foods, Inc. failed to bring eleven (11) of their heavy duty diesel trucks into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards, to ensure that two (2) engines had legible emission control label (ECL) affixed to the engine, and to perform annual opacity tests for eight (8) vehicles for the years 2014 and 2015. ARB documented violations as they related to the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation, the Emission Control Label requirements of the Heavy-Duty Vehicle Emissions Control System Inspections regulation, and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program. To settle the case, Imperial Valley Foods, Inc. agreed to the $36,000.00 penalty and to comply with TB, ECL, PSIP and other ARB programs.
