HERC Rentals, Inc. Case Settles for $12,525
HERC Rentals, Inc. will pay $12,525.00in penalties for reporting violations: $9,395.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,130.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in December, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that HERC Rentals, Inc. failed to report all required information for all vehicles in their fleet, and failed to disclose appropriate language on the bills of sale, sales contract, addendums, or invoices. ARB documented violations as they related to the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, HERC Rentals, Inc. agreed to the $12,525.00 penalty and to comply with the TB regulation, and other ARB programs.
