Hemet Manufacturing Co., Inc. (dba: Genesis Construction) paid $7,500 in penalties ($5,625 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $1,875 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) colleges), for violating air quality regulations. This settlement was reached in January 2008. An investigation by the ARB showed that Hemet Manufacturing Co., Inc. failed to properly self-inspect the portion of their diesel powered vehicles fleet that falls under the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Hemet Manufacturing Co., Inc. agreed to the $7,500 penalty and to comply with the PSIP.
