Gerawan Farming, Inc. Case Settles for $800
Gerawan Farming, Inc. paid $800.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $600.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $200.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in December 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Gerawan Farming, Inc. failed to provide evidence that one of their trucks had an Emission Control Label (ECL) attached to the diesel engine and failed to properly self-inspect one of their diesel trucks to assure the truck met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the ECL program. To settle the case, Gerawan Farming, Inc. agreed to the $800.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, ECL and other ARB programs.
