With space and water heaters accounting for 8% of the state's NOx emissions and 10% of the state's greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning to zero emission appliances is crucial for meeting California's carbon neutrality goals. Zero emission rules are also important for reducing incidence of repiratory illness, and the public health overall. I urge the implementation of zero emission appliance rules to protect people's health, improve air quality and help meet the state's carbon neutrality goals.
