RE: SB 1075 Public Comments
To whom it may concern:
The Antelope Valley Economic Development & Growth Enterprise (AV EDGE) is the regional economic development organization covering the northern Los Angeles County communities and the southeastern Kern County high desert communities of Lancaster, Palmdale, Edwards, Rosamond, California City, Mojave, Tehachapi and Boron.
For over twenty years, this community has successfully become one of the state’s largest renewable energy producers. Recently, we’ve taken steps to attract hydrogen development as one of the most promising next steps in this journey.
As we move towards a hydrogen future we must take care not to enact policies that could hamper hydrogen use and replacement. In particular, some state and local agencies have looked to limit or outright ban natural gas appliances and infrastructure in new developments.
In order to ensure our hydrogen future is affordable for California residents, we will need to maintain that natural gas infrastructure, and natural gas energy as a bridge technology towards a cleaner future. Homes, commercial, and industrial spaces constructed without natural gas infrastructure will be at a distinct disadvantage in the future as we grow into hydrogen-based energy.
Our community is committed to being on the front lines of this exciting new technology and look forward to the job creation and quality of life it will provide. Ensuring that hydrogen has the infrastructure to power our homes and buildings in the future is key to ensuring a smooth transition.
Thank you for your time and attention to these comments.
Sincerely,

DREW MERCY
