Exemptions for low volume vehicle manufacturers

Hello,

I got the chance to attend the community outreach event in Long Beach, and briefly mentioned this towards the end of the session. I wanted to expand on the point I was trying to make.

I am a co-founder of a low volume hypercar manufacturer. We build 50 cars per year, at the most; for the moment, we only build combustion engine cars. Our cars are driven, on average, fewer than 2,500 miles/year. Due to the high price and restrictions on their functionality, our cars are not a daily driver for any one of our customers.

The restrictions you are imposing on ICE vehicles would prevent our cars from being driven on roads in California. We see this as an unfair penalty, when our cars ultimately have a negligible impact on the environment. I would like to urge to consider exemptions for ultra low volume manufacturers and their fleets.

Europe has already recognized that it is unfair to apply the same regulations to small companies, such as ourselves, as are applied to large OEMs and make exemptions for our cars. We would love to see similar exemptions extended to us, so that we can continue to sell cars into this market, which is one of the 2 biggest markets for us in the U.S.

Thank you!
