The Trump administration’s rollbacks are harmful to our health, economy, and environment. California must respond with strong state-level incentives for EVs, accelerated clean car and truck commitments, expanded charging infrastructure in frontline communities, and new policies that hold polluters accountable. If the courts uphold the limits placed on California’s ability to set higher emissions standards, then the state can certainly set its own license/registration fees. And those would affect all polluting vehicles, new as well as used, and be paid every year that are registered! These clean vehicle standards don’t just help Californians — they influence national policy and create jobs in clean transportation industries.
