Double D Transportation Co. Case Settles for $14,750

In May 2014, Double D Transportation Co. (Double D) based in Hayward, agreed to pay $14,750 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $11,063 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,687 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. 

An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Double D failed to comply with the Truck and Bus regulation (TBR) rule by neglecting to install legally required emission reduction devices by applicable compliance dates. Further, Double D failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the TBR regulation and Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Double D agreed to the $14,750 penalty and to comply with the TBR and PSIP programs in addition to other ARB programs.
