CR&R Waste and Recycling Services, Incorporated Case Settles for $16,500.00
In June 2013 CR&R Waste and Recycling Services agreed to pay $16,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $12,375.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $4,125.00 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that CR&R Waste and Recycling Services failed to correct and retest multiple trucks after they had failed their smoke opacity tests. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, CR&R Waste and Recycling Services agreed to the $16,500.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP Program, and other ARB programs.
