Competition Specialties, Inc. Settlement
Competition Specialties, Inc. Case Settles for $138,000
In April 2016, Competition Specialties, Inc. (CSI) settled its case with the Air Resources Board (ARB). A routine investigation by ARB revealed that CSI sold, offered for sale, and/or advertised, aftermarket performance parts that were not exempted from California’s anti-tampering laws. Such performance parts replace or modify vital original emission components and manufacturer specified engine operating conditions, and thus must be evaluated by ARB to demonstrate continued emissions compliance. CSI has agreed to pay a penalty of $103,500 to the Air Pollution Control Fund and $34,500 to the School Bus and Diesel Emission Reduction Supplemental Environmental Project. CSI has agreed not to supply, distribute, offer for sale, sell or advertise in California any aftermarket part in violation of the California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2222 Vehicle Code section 27156.
