Coliman Produce, Inc. Case Settles for $4,000
Coliman Produce, Inc. paid $4,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,000.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,000.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in January 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Coliman Produce, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect its diesel trucks, as required by Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), failed to delegate the third party reporting consultant for the Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) fleet, and failed to meet the Statewide Truck and Bus (STB) compliance schedule for a small fleet. ARB documented violations as they related to the PSIP, the TRU Air Toxic Control Measure and the STB regulation. To settle the case, Coliman Produce, Inc. agreed to the $4,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, the TRU, the STB, and other ARB programs.
