Cobos Transportation Express Inc. Case Settles for $18,985
Cobos Transportation Express Inc. agreed to pay $18,945.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $14,208.75 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $4,736.25 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) colleges. This settlement was reached in May 2012.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Cobos Transportation Express Inc. failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) by not smoke testing all diesel vehicles in its fleet and the Drayage Truck Regulation by dispatching drayage trucks that are not compliant with the emission standards set forth in the regulation. To settle the case, Cobos Transportation Express Inc. agreed to the $18,945.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and Drayage Truck Regulation.
