Carlton Forge Works Case Settles for $130,000
Companies covered by the California’s Cap-and-Trade Regulation are required to designate and maintain two or more account representatives; those representatives enable a company to perform acts required by the regulation, including acquiring and surrendering compliance instruments. Carlton Forge Works failed to replace account representatives who left the company, jeopardizing its ability to meet compliance deadlines. To resolve the violation, the company paid $130,000 in penalties. The money will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality.
