Boys and Girls Clubs of South County Case Settles for $14,500
In May 2015, Boys and Girls Clubs of South County agreed to pay $14,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $10,875.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,625.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Boys and Girls Clubs of South County failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), and failed to meet PM BACT requirements per the School Bus Compliance Schedule as required by the Truck and Bus (STB) Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP and the STB Regulation. To settle the case, Boys and Girls Clubs of South County agreed to the $14,500.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, the STB Regulation, and other ARB programs.
