American Wrecking Inc. Case Settles for $24,000
In March 2014, American Wrecking, Inc. agreed to pay $24,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $18,000.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $6,000.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that American Wrecking, Inc. failed to bring their heavy-duty diesel fleet in compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Statewide Truck and Bus regulation (STB). To settle the case, American Wrecking, Inc. agreed to the $24,000.00 penalty and to comply with the STB, and other ARB programs.
