Alvand Transportation Corp Case Settlement
Alvand Transportation Corp Case Settles for $25,000
Alvand Transportation Corp will pay $25,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $18,750.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $6,250.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in November, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Alvand Transportation Corp failed to bring seven of their heavy-duty diesel buses into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards, failed to ensure Emission Control Labels (ECL) were affixed to the engines, and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), the ECL Program, and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, Alvand Transportation Corp agreed to the $25,000.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, ECL, TB, and other ARB programs.
