Submitted Comment Name Swati Mylavarapu Affiliation Member of the public Subject Food Loss & waste as part of CPRG in California Message Dear members of CARB, The opportunity presented by the US Government's EPA-led Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program is an exciting set of opportunities for investments in California's communities - to help us face the future in a climate resilient way, and to ensure Californians across our state can participate in that future. Please take care and ensure that the programs you build incorporate not just carbon mitigation and remediation efforts, and community resiliency - but that they ALSO include food loss and waste in communities across the state. Addressing FLW is one of the most important, impactful near term actions the State can take to address methane emissions, a major contributing greenhouse gas. FLW measures and programs are also vital to the state's many agricultural and rural communities - ensuring that they can participate in a climate-ready future. We should be looking for federal funds and deploying programs throughout California that lead the country here - such as expanded green waste reduction efforts, programs that help communities learn and reduce their food consumption and waste, and which help communities better sort organic waste out of their trash streams before they end up in landfills.
