3M Company Settles For $18,800

In May 2021, the California Air Resources Board and 3M Company of St. Paul, Minnesota, reached a settlement agreement in the amount of $18,800. 3M Company sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured a general-purpose degreaser (aerosol), web spray adhesive, general purpose adhesive remover, mist spray adhesive, and silicone-based multi-purpose lubricant for use in California containing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standards specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations, section 94509(a). There was a total of 0.36 tons of excess VOC emissions. To come into compliance, 3M Company is removing the products from the California marketplace.
