Also, the environmental impact of fertilizers and pesticides has massive adverse effects not accounted for in most use analyses. Finally, the reduction in NOx and other tailpipe emissions, while helpful, is less than if more electric vehicles using solar produced power would achieve. So I would suggest that either a different approach be used to replace ethanol or a more aggressive solar vehicle program is enacted and using the money for corn based ethanol be used to subsidize electric vehicles.
