The tester list is provided as a courtesy for vehicle owners who need to hire the services of a credentialed tester to perform compliance testing on their vehicles.
Credentialed testers may be valid CTC testers and not be listed on the public for-hire list. Inclusion on this list is optional for testers, and is not a requirement.
Compliance testing must be performed by a credentialed tester. Individuals on this list have taken CARB’s online Tester Training Course and passed the accompanying exam authorizing them to perform vehicle compliance tests including on-board diagnostic, smoke opacity, and visual inspections. The credentialed testers listed have also granted CARB staff permission to include them on this publicly available list. Inclusion on this list does not represent an endorsement by CARB.
Please refer to Emissions Compliance Testing Requirements for specifics of which test type is required for your vehicle as well as other testing details. Be sure that the tester you are contacting is equipped to perform the correct test type for your vehicle. Your CTC-VIS account will show with test type is recommended for your vehicle.
