Suzuki Motor USA, LLC Settles For $11,840
In August 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Suzuki Motor USA, LLC (Suzuki), with its principal location in Brea, California, for the company’s violation of the Motor Vehicle Pollution Control Devices (Vehicle Standards), as codified under California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 1900-2048.
Suzuki self-disclosed that their company failed to comply with the Vehicle Standards by selling a noncompliant 49-state On-Road Motorcycle in California without the necessary Executive Order in place. CARB documented these violations under the Vehicle Standards, resulting in a penalty of $11,840.75.
Suzuki agreed to the civil penalty amount to settle the violation and, as part of its resolution with CARB, has committed to strengthening its compliance procedures to prevent future occurrences of similar violations. Suzuki acted swiftly to reach out and took the initial steps to come into compliance with CARB.The total settlement amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
