Reyes Trucking Case Settles for $3,975
Reyes Trucking will pay $3,975.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $2,981.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $994.00 will go to the School Bus and Diesel Emission Reduction Supplemental Environmental Project, which will be used to fund retrofits and replacements for school buses in California. This settlement was reached in June 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Reyes Trucking failed to: (1) properly self-inspect its diesel trucks, as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), (2) bring its vehicles into compliance by the deadlines set forth in the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation, and (3) misreported one vehicle in the Truck Regulation Upload, Compliance and Reporting System. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP and TB Regulation. To settle the case, Reyes Trucking agreed to the $3,975.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB Regulation and other ARB programs.
