Am I eligible for a Five-Day Pass for Clean Truck Check?
Vehicle owners are eligible to apply for a Five-Day Pass prior to travelling to California once per calendar year per vehicle if the vehicle has no outstanding enforcement actions.
Will my non-compliant vehicle show as compliant, and can I register my vehicle with California DMV while I am using a 5-day pass?
No, the Clean Truck Check 5-day pass does not make your non-compliant vehicle compliant during the 5-day pass period, and it will not be eligible to be registered with CA DMV.
Will my VIN show as compliant in the public lookup list during my 5-day pass period?
If the non-compliant vehicle that is currently using a 5-day pass has been reported in your CTC-VIS account, the public lookup will show it as non-compliant.
If the non-compliant vehicle has NOT yet been reported in your account, the public lookup will show a message reflecting that it does not see the VIN reported.
In either case, you can print the 5-day pass for that non-compliant vehicle which shows that it is allowed to operate in California during the 5-day pass period. The 5-day pass is required to be kept in the vehicle so that it may be provided upon request by CARB enforcement.
If my entire fleet is compliant except for one truck that is using a 5-day pass, will the public lookup reflect compliance?
If the non-compliant vehicle that is currently using a 5-day pass has been reported in your CTC-VIS account, the fleet public lookup will show the fleet as non-compliant.
If the non-compliant vehicle has NOT yet been reported in your account, the fleet public lookup will show the fleet as compliant.
To bring the fleet into compliance, the non-compliant vehicle will need to meet the reporting, annual compliance fee, and testing requirements.

What happens after I submit my request and need proof of my Five-Day pass?
If your request is approved CARB will email you a Five-Day pass document.
