Appendix A of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Emission Inventory Criteria and Guidelines (EICG) Regulation is a critical component of the state's Air Toxics "Hot Spots" Information and Assessment Act (AB 2588). The Appendix A serves as the definitive list of substances for which facilities are required to report emissions or usage information to CARB and local air districts.
The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) develops health-based toxicity values, known as OEHHA Hot Spots Health Values, for use within the Air Toxics "Hot Spots" program. These values, including Cancer Potency Factors and Reference Exposure Levels (RELs), are used to estimate the potential health risks associated with exposure to air toxics. The Consolidated Table of OEHHA / CARB Approved Risk Assessment Health Values (Posted: January 7, 2025) compiles these current and approved health values, serving as a central reference for risk assessors and ensuring consistency and the use of the latest scientific information when conducting health risk assessments under the "Hot Spots" program.
The purpose of this tool is to bridge together the Appendix A list of substances that require reporting, the OEHHA consolidated health table and additional information on each chemical’s properties, uses and approved source testing methods in a user-friendly application.
Please see the Data Dictionary for more information and definitions. You may use the scroll bars to view additional health values and chemical use descriptions located further on the right. Note the tool only displays the first one-hundred substances when filtering due to rendering of chemical structure graphics.
