Reliance Intermodal Inc. Case Settles for $32,500
Reliance Intermodal Inc. will pay $32,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $16,250.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $16,250.00 will go to the School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in May, 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Reliance Intermodal Inc. failed to: (1) bring three of their on-road diesel fueled vehicles into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards, (2) hire fleets in compliance with the Truck and Bus (TB) regulation, (3) bring eleven of their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and, (4) report one of their on-road diesel fueled vehicles to the Drayage Truck Registry. ARB documented violations as they related to the TB Regulation, the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure, and the Drayage Truck Regulation (DTR). To settle the case, Reliance Intermodal Inc. agreed to the $32,500.00 penalty and to comply with TB, TRU, DTR and, other ARB programs.
