Recycling Resources Case Settles for $11,775
Recycling Resources will pay $11,775.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $8,832.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,943.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in January 27, 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Recycling Resources: (1) failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to ensure the trucks met state smoke emission standards; (2) failed to provide evidence that their vehicles have ECLs attached to the engines of their heavy-duty diesel vehicles; (3) failed to meet PM BACT requirements for one 1993 and older engine model years by January 1, 2015; (4) failed to meet PM BACT requirements for one 1994 and engine model years by January 1, 2016; and (5) failed to report all vehicles with engines subject to the regulation for which the fleet owner has elected to utilize the compliance options of 13 CCR § 2025(p)(4). To settle the case, Recycling Resources has agreed to the $11,775.00 penalty and to comply with the Truck and Bus regulation and other ARB applicable regulations.
