In July 2015, Governor Brown issued Executive Order B-32-15, which provides a vision for California’s transition to a more efficient, more economically competitive, and less polluting freight transport system. This transition of California’s freight transport system is essential to supporting the State’s economic development in coming decades while reducing harmful pollution affecting many California communities. As a key first step, the Governor’s Executive Order directs the California State Transportation Agency, California Environmental Protection Agency, Natural Resources Agency, California Air Resources Board, California Department of Transportation, California Energy Commission, and Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to develop a California Sustainable Freight Action Plan (Action Plan), by July 2016.
