MDO, Inc. Case Settles for $15,000
MDO, Inc. will pay $15,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $7,500.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $7,500.00 will go to the School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in June, 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that MDO, Inc. failed to: (1) bring two of their on-road diesel fueled vehicles into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards, (2) hire a fleet in compliance with the Truck and Bus (TB) regulation and, (3) bring two of their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the TB Regulation and the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure. To settle the case, MDO, Inc. agreed to the $15,000.00 penalty and to comply with TB, TRU and, other ARB programs.
