Imperial Western Products, Inc. Settles For $50,000
In February 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Imperial Western Products, Inc. (IWP), with its principal location in Coachella, California for the company’s violation of the Low Carbon Fuel Standard Regulation (LCFS Regulation), as specified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 95494 et seq.
During an onsite inspection, CARB staff discovered that IWP submitted quarterly fuel reports that deviated from the actual carbon intensity of the fuel reported. CARB staff also discovered that IWP submitted a quarterly fuel report that included duplicate volumes of produced fuel. CARB documented the violations as they related to the LCFS Regulation. To settle the case, IWP agreed to the penalty of $6,250 for each of the eight inaccurate quarterly reports, resulting in a total penalty of $50,000.
IWP cooperated with CARB in the resolution of this matter, and worked with its partners to retire credits erroneously generated as a result of the company’s misreporting. IWP is now in compliance with CARB’s LCFS Regulation. The total penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
