Honorio Orozco Trucking Case Settles for $16,800
An investigation by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) showed that Honorio Orozco Trucking was in violation of the Truck and Bus Regulation (California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2025). The violations were first discovered through a “SMART Audits” data analysis and later confirmed during the investigation. Honorio Orozco Trucking failed to bring seven vehicles into compliance with the engine model year compliance schedule.
The total penalty assessed in this case was $16,800.00, with a per unit penalty of $2,400.00. The penalty was discounted based on the fact the violator made diligent efforts to comply and to cooperate with the investigation.
Honorio Orozco Trucking agreed to the conditions of the settlement including the total penalty payment going to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality, and submission of proof of compliance with the Truck and Bus Regulation within 12 months of the execution of Settlement Agreement. Honorio Orozco Trucking and CARB continue to execute a compliance plan in order to fully comply with the Truck and Bus Regulation.
