Holmes Transport, Inc. Case Settles for $10,125
Holmes Transport, Inc. will pay $10,125.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $7,594.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,531.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in May 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Holmes Transport, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect its diesel trucks, as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), and failed to bring their vehicles into compliance by the deadlines set forth in the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP and TB Regulation. To settle the case, Holmes Transport, Inc. agreed to the $10,125.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB Regulation and other ARB programs.
