Garda CL West, Inc. Case Settles for $6,500
Garda CL West, Inc. will pay $6,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $4,875.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,625.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in April, 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Garda CL West, Inc. failed to bring two of their vehicles into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards, and properly self-inspect its diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation, and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Garda CL West, Inc. agreed to the $6,500.00 penalty and to comply with TB, PSIP, and other ARB programs.
