LG’ application for the variance from the prohibition on the use of R410A in discordance with California Code of Regulations Title 17, subsection 95371 et. Seq. Seems to conform to CARB’s variance application. Anthropogenic Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) such as the R410A prohibition should be strictly followed, however, because the time extension being sought is less than a year and LG has milestones to phase out the use of R410A, CARB can consider approval of the variance application albeit upon a strict adherence to LG’s timeline. Being very strict means there can be no deviation from progress earmarked for the milestones and any deviation at any milestone triggers termination of the variance with punitive additions to the termination.
