California Air Resources Board

California has around 41 million ha of land surface, comprised of forests, range lands, deserts, wetlands, developed (or urban) land, and cropland.  CARB conducts and supports research in collaboration with other state agencies and institutions to develop understanding of soil emissions and carbon sequestration in California’s ecosystems.
